We all want to work in a place where we feel we belong, and we can be our best selves.

The LLR Active Bystander Programme is an innovative award winning programme that will support colleagues to become active bystanders who feel confident to take an early intervention approach to prevent negative behaviours, such as bullying, sexual harassment and racism, from escalating and promote a pro-social culture of learning.

Supporting the development of a community of Active Bystanders will have a number of benefits for your organisation and your teams:

• Active Bystanders feel confident and have the skills to ‘nip things in the bud’ and intervene to de-escalate situations
• Active Bystanders role model positive regard for others, enable learning and grow a culture of civility and respect
• Take action to stop harmful behaviours and send a clear message to perpetrators and witnesses that your organisation is ‘calling time’ on harmful behaviours
• Improve the health and wellbeing of your workforce, retention of staff and encourage future recruitment as an employer of choice
• Demonstrate your actions to deliver against the CQC’s Key Lines of Enquiry for the five fundamental standards of quality and safety as a Safe, Effective, Caring, Responsive, and Well-Led organisation
• Contribute to your statutory legal duty to take reasonable steps to prevent sexual harassment and create a safe working environment for your employees under the amended Equality Act 2010, where a breach of the duty may lead to an uplift in compensation by up to 25% if a tribunal finds the employer failed in their duty to prevent sexual harassment

The programme is provided by the LLR Integrated Care Board and is open and free to all health and social care workforce working across Leicester, Leicestershire and Rutland.
